Sailing, Windsurfing, Kayaking - Club Med Cancun
(updated March 2010) Sailing, windsurfing and kayaking are all together under the 'same roof' near the rebuilt La Palapa (now Las Cazuelas). No longer a long walk down a remote beach to sail or windsurf:
- Great sailing team including Kyle from Texas and Diego from Mexico - thanks guys!
- Published hours of operation: 9:00am-5:30pm - without a lunch break! Very nice for sailing and catching a late lunch at Las Cazuelas
- Lessons at 10:00am and 3:00pm
- It makes sense to have all these sports in the same location. Plus, this close in location makes it easier to avoid the annoying buzzy boats from Aqua World. It also makes it easy to enjoy a late lunch and run out to catch the wind
- New wide-ride wind surfer boards are easier to learn and balance
- There are still a few regular wind surf boards for experienced riders
- Hobie Cat resort 13 footers (7 boats) - plus two 16' Hobies for the more experienced sailors
- Solo and couples kayaks
- The ridge area between sailing and the main road has been re-shaped. From the road, you can now completely see the beach and sailing area. To accomplish this, they had to shave away a reef-ridge that ran along this area. You have to see it to appreciate it. Nice effect. More open and scenic. See the slide show below
- A weekly competitive sailing regatta
- Also weekly windsuring regatta as well as kayak race
- A sailing Armada on Thursday afternoon across the bay to a beach near Wet and Wild for drinks and games and then sail back. This is a good activity for singles, etc. Fun event
